Our project is called “Biodiversity Illustrated“

We Are Documenting The 36 Biodiversity Hotpots There Are In The World To Showcase The Importance Of These Endangered Areas And What People Can Do To Protect Them. We Want To Create An Illustrated Book That Represents Each Of These Areas With High Biodiversity And Endemism, With A Focus On Conservation, And We Are Looking For Artists Who Can Best Depict Them. This Project Is Co- Funded By The Erasmus+ Programme For Adult Education By The European Commission.

Who we are looking for:

  • Experience and skills in illustration/painting/comic/manga/graphic novel design and layouting.
  • As we welcome your approaches to the graphic aspects and design, we expect you to be open to our suggestions and ideas.
  • Flexibility and availability for feedback sessions (personal or via Video Call).
  • Good command of the English language.
  • Residence must be in the European Union.

You will need to send us an invoice for your service, therefore you could be self- employed.

APPLICATION

Please send us 2-3 examples of your art style and a 1-page draft illustrating one biodiversity hotspot of your choice with a conservation angle to give us an idea of how you would approach illustrations for the book. Include a short bio about you (5 – 7 lines) and a motivation letter (8 – 10 lines) telling us why you would like to illustrate this book.

If you are selected, you will need to produce 12 illustrations for 6 biodiversity hotspots (2 per hotspot).

For your work, you will receive a lump sum of € 1200 Euro. The detailed payment modalities will be set when the contract is signed.

The illustrations will need to be delivered by 30 June 2023.
